16.0 EASTERN AFGHANISTAN
16.1 INDIAN MOGUL EMPERORS
1504-1530 Emperor Babar (descendent of Timur): Takes Kabul and establishes an independent principality. Takes Kandahar in 1522 and all of Northern India (from the Lodi Afghan Dynasty) including Delhi in 1526. Rules all of Afghanistan east of the Hindu Kush.

1530-1556 Humayun (son)
1556-1605 Akbar (son)
1605-1627 Jahangir (son)
1628-1658 Shah Jahan (son): His son and successor Aurangzeb led several unsuccessful campaigns West of the Hindu Kush against the Perisans (Balkh 1647, Kandahar 1649-1653).
1659-1707 Aurangzeb (son): Height of the Empire. Decline begins after his death.
1707-1712 Bahadur (son)
1712 Jahandar (son)
1712-1719 Farrukh-Siar (nephew)
1719-1738 Mohamed (cousin): Loses the provinces of Afghanistan and Northwestern India to the Shah Nader of Persia in 1738-1739 . Mohamed's reign continues in India until 1748 and the Empire continues in India until 1758.
