249-247 BC Arsaces I and the Parthian Empire: The Parthians led by Arsaces I rests control of Eastern Iran and Southern Afghanistan (the satrapies of Seistan and Kandahar) from the Seleucids.
247-212 BC Arsaces II: Forms a peace with Diodotus II of the Greco-Bactrian Empire
212-171 BC Arsaces III: Parthian Empire reduced to a vassel state to the Seleucid Empire by Antioco III. After the 189 defeat of the Seleucids by the Romans, the Parthians reassert independence. Loses remaining areas of Bactria to the Greco-Bactrians.
171-138 BC Mitradates I: Reconquests small parts of southern Bactria.
